Sunburn on the roadGoa: Amidst all the confusion with regard to the EDM Festival venues, Vh1 Supersonic has announced a new venue for its next edition while Sunburn Festival is yet to make the final venue announcement for its 2016 edition.
Although the Goa tourism Minister previously stated in the press that music festivals will not be allowed between December 25th to 31st in Goa – there seems to be a new twist after Vh1 Supersonic pulled out of Goa. The Chief Minister of Goa, Laxmikant Parsekar told TOI that his government is not averse to considering one application.
We will not have any problem if there is only one event, he said.
Sunburn Festival’s application to host the 2016 edition in Goa is still pending with the Goa Tourism Department. This could mean the festival still has decent chances to take place in Goa. Every year it has been noticed that the government holds on to the final decision till the last moment keeping the EDM enthusiasts in India & Festival Organisers in a dilemma.
The Special Level Permission Committee is still undecided on this issue since both the EDM Festival organisers are yet to clear their dues to the government. The final decision will be taken by the Chief Minister of Goa. The proposal has been pending before the government since two months.
Now that Vh1 Supersonic has pulled out the interest to hold the festival in Goa this year & move to Pune, chances of gaining permissions to host the Sunburn Festival in Goa have certainly increased.
If you have already booked your early bird tickets to Sunburn 2016 & made travel arrangements to Goa – it would be wise to wait for some more time before cancelling your travel tickets to Goa. 🙂
