10 EDM Vocalists we absolutely love

Krewella

In a world where Electronic Music is often antagonised as “music with jaw-dropping beats, heavy bass and no words,” there are some EDM vocalists breaking the stereotype with their exceptional singing talents.

Here’s a list of top 10 EDM vocalists that have amazed us by turning some decent tracks into something extraordinary and phenomenal.

1: Heather Bright (Bright Lights)

Known as Bright Lights, Heather Bright is an American pop singer and songwriter who has recently let her light shine brightly over the EDM world. With beautiful compositions and an extremely powerful voice, it’s no surprise she’s one of the most sought-after EDM vocalists right now.

We don’t even have a count on the number of tracks she has featured on and for that very reason, she’s on top of our list!

2: Matthew Koma

This name needs no introduction. A very sought after artist in the Dance Music scene, Matthew Koma has collaborated with most of the top DJs in the world, be it, Hardwell, Zedd, Alesso, Afrojack, Tiesto and many more.

His ability to take songs to the next level and make them super hit with his powerful voice is the reason he is one of the best male EDM vocalists around.

Although recently Matthew hasn’t featured in many songs, we need his magic desperately!

3: John Martin

This name will never be forgotten by EDM lovers, especially Swedish House Mafia fans. Imagine ‘don’t you worry child’ without John Martin’s powerful and emotional vocals. The song would still do well but it would never have reached such heights! Apart from this track, John has also featured in Reload, Save The World. My only question is, why has no one else picked up his talents yet?!

4: Nadia Ali

On her own, Nadia Ali has proven that she’s a powerhouse vocalist. Her sultry, emotion-filled vocals are distinctive, which has made her one of the hottest standalone singers in the scene. She’s found success with remixes from the likes of Morgan Page, Avicii, Alesso and many more. Off late, she hasn’t been featuring in many songs. Nadia, we miss you!

5: Amba Shepherd

Though Amba Shepherd has been on the EDM scene for quite some time, she rose to success with Hardwell’s megahit song ‘Apollo’. Amba Shepherd was named “The most relevant guest vocalist in EDM” by Elektro Mag June 2013. She definitely has a unique voice when it comes to EDM vocalists.

6: Skylar Grey

Skylar Gray is a five-time Grammy Award-nominated singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist who has the rare ability to capture the most nuanced of feelings and then channel them into songs with a subtle cathartic power.

Aside from her own albums, you know her voice bests from “Room For Happiness” by Kaskade, “Shot Me Down” by David Guetta and many more.

7: Ellie Goulding

This English singer-songwriter has graced the tracks of countless EDM artists including Skrillex and Calvin Harris, while also being remixed by the likes of Bassnectar, R3hab, and Tiësto. Her personal compositions are also heavily influenced by the sounds of EDM, making her one of the most famous female EDM vocalists.

8: Jahan & Yasmine Yousef (Krewella)

They might appear grungy and badass but deep down these girls are just a couple softies with voices to match. Jahan and Yasmine Yousef are two sisters equipped with powerful vocal chords to create explosive catchy vocal dubstep/electro.

Their single ‘Alive’ had sat at the top of the charts for a long time and their collaboration with Nicky Romero on ‘Legacy’ also followed in its footsteps. These badass ladies have set quite an example for other female singers.

9: Nervo Sisters

Though they are more famous for their DJing skills and producing some scintillating tracks, both of them are pretty good EDM vocalists as well. Miriam and Olivia started out as songwriters then tried their hand at singing and producing electronic music and since then, there’s no looking back for these Australian beauties.

10: Georgi Kay

Yes, she is the reason why most of us still have the song “In My Mind by Feenixpawl and Ivan Gough” in our evergreen songs playlist. Georgi Kay is an Australian indie pop musician, based in Australia. She released her debut solo album, Backwardsforwards in 2011 and later on featured on this magical track in 2012. Since then, Kay hasn’t featured in many songs. But we surely would want her to sing some more bangers!

Is there anyone else you guys think we should add to the list? Let us know by commenting below. 😀
