supersonic

Vh1 Supersonic has announced Pune as its new venue to host the flagship event. The festival will now take place between 10th – 12th February 2017 in Pune. The organisers have announced new dates & new venue for the festival which took place on the sands of Candolim in Goa for 3 consecutive years.

While Pune EDM enthusiasts are excited about Supersonic’s new venue, a few fans are disappointed with the festival moving out of Goa.

Saugato Bhowmik, Head, LIVE Viacom18, said,

Carrying a legacy of offering the best in dance music, we are excited to host the upcoming edition of Vh1 Supersonic in Pune. Deeply-rooted in culture and traditions, the city is known for its openness towards modern influences and thought. Pune is a seamless blend of local culture and global influences, thereby making it an apt destination for the upcoming edition of Vh1 Supersonic! We also see this as an ongoing journey to provide transformative experiences to today’s youth by creating the Supersonic world at the kind of world-class destinations that Pune is providing to us. We are looking forward to a very successful Vh1 Supersonic, celebrating Pune as our new home.

The EDMofy View:

As mentioned in our previous post on this topic, the EDM industry in India has exploded into a lucrative business platform and festivals around the country are on the rise. It is no rocket science that EDM festivals generate huge income for local economies and also create job opportunities for the locals in Goa. Not just that, but it puts Goa on the global EDM map. It’s a big loss for Goa & a win for Pune. Whether the new venue will attract the type & size of Crowd, only time will tell.

The festival would certainly attract a different crowd. Do you think the festival will be able to carry forward the Goa Vibe to its new venue in Pune? What is your response to this announcement?
