Genre:
A Genre is a class or a type of particular music, in our context, a subclass of EDM. There are a loads of Genres in Dance Music and various artists have specialized in the different genres.

Basic Parameters in differentiating between genres:

  1. BPM – Beats per minute which defines the rate or the speed of the music being played. The BPM is de facto the main differentiating parameter between genres. The genres in EDM vary anywhere between 70 upto 180 bpm. So now you know how much the rate of the music matters.
  2. Variation of Synths – Certain genres like Techno have just a plain beat repeating over and over again whereas some other genres like dubstep have a lot of screams/wobbling synths in them.
  3. Melody – Certain Genres are more melodious than the rest i.e. theres a lot happening in some genres like complextro in comparison to genres like techno.
