Every year Ultra Music Festival holds new surprises for EDM lovers, and this year was no different. Right from inclement weather creating havoc to an amazing array of DJ’s ( Tiesto, Avicii, David Guetta, Skrillex, and many more) to the guest appearance by Ariana Grande, Justin Bieber and Usher.
This 17th season of UMF had it all, and the three biggest talking points were:
- Inclement Weather: The weather played the biggest spoilsport on Day-1. With heavy downpour few stages were blocked for majority of the time, and some sets were either shortened or completely cancelled, most noticeably – Odesza and Chromeo. The weather certainly played a part in dampening the spirit of both the performers as well as the music lovers.
- Skrillex – The closing performance, the finale of the Ultra Music Festival certainly lived up to the lofty expectations. Like always, Skrillex played his energetic music and wooed the crowd all around. His performance was nothing sort of breathtaking. It had it all from “Take U there” to “Jack U goods” to “Dirty Vibes”, and he never let the tempo drop. He even got Diplo, Diddy and Kiesza to perform with him, and Diplo and Skrillex’s combination set the stage on fire. The icing on the cake had to be Justin Bieber, and for once we can appreciate him for being a sport.
- Martin Garrix – Perhaps the showstopper of the festival with such an amazing array of DJ’s on display, he still managed to stand out with his wonderful transition of music. With this performance, he has further stamped his authority as the DJ to watchout for in the coming years. He played most of his hit numbers right from Animals to Gold Skies to Turn Up the Speakers and even got Usher to perform their new single “Don’t look down”.
