With the deserts of Indio, Califronia coming to life under the night sky in the 2nd week of April, the much awaited line-up release of the Coachella has enough substance to take you through all known music emotions, from the carefree peace, to the feel good love showers, onto the heart wrenching drumming and the phenomenal disguises of dance music. Released on Twitter this Tuesday, and retweeted a record number of times, the line-up boasts of AC/DC, Drake and Jake White headlining the multi-genre festival.
The two-weekend extravaganza, known to be the one-stop destination for music addicts, has given enough room for the obvious and the unexpected this year around, with the organisers picking an elaborate, yet intricate list of performers whose styles are sure to give the much-anticipated twist when its needed.
The rock list runs longer than the rest, thanks to the likes of Steely Dan, the instrumental rock band Ratatat, San-Diego outfit Drive Like Jehu in addition to the sparkling beats of War On Drugs and alternative rock band Interpol. If you’re as much into pop as rock, the good news continues as Florence + Machine, Fitz and the Tantrums, soul-artist Hozier, Brooklyn multi-instrumentalist St.Vincent lead the charge. But you might be in for a slight disappointment if you swear by EDM, as the line-up looks bleak and could come short of the genuine intensity associated with the fest. Axwell /\ Ingrosso, Alesso, and David Guetta are a few of the common faces on the EDM circuit invited for Coachella apart from instant fame-fetcher Madeon and DJ Snake, known for his collaboration with Dillon Francis.
What’s more, Coachella went on to be the center of much frenzy when all passes were sold out barely days after they were released. Now, that’s a sign that the pre-season jitters have started to kick in and it’s only going to get better from here.
At the end of the day, there’s still a full 3 months to soak in the pre-Coachella fever and pack your bags full of excitement to groove at two of the perfect nights on the sand under the desert sky. We’ll bump into you in California, but till then, here we have the Coachella line-up:
