Day 3 saw the Iron Heart play host to the Anjunabeats stage. The evening started with the Stockholm native, Jeremy Olander, who’s been featured on the Pryda label and has had a guestmix on ABGT. His EPs have been supported by John Digweed,Pete Tong amongst other Deep/Techno artists. There was an eerie and peaceful air of calm about his techno set which was on the softer side of things in contrast to the usual hard banging beats.
It was followed by the DJ Pearl‘s set which was an infusion of a variety of techno sounds. Every track she played had a message for everyone to takeaway.
‘This whole genres business is like the Berlin wall, and I’m there with a forklift and a wrecking ball’,these were the words of the young prodigy who’s made forays into almost every EDM genre out there, Mat Zo! Indeed did he manage to live up to his word; his set was a real treat, comprising of an assortment of genres from Prog House to Prog Trance to Techno. His set included tracks from his recent album Damage Control namely Caller ID,The Sky,Easy ft Porter Robinson,Pyramid Scheme amongst others.
Then arrived the moment we were all waiting for.Minutes before the set began, the entire crowd descended next to the Anjunabeats stage with banners and loads of posters requesting Jono to push the button! He delighted the crowd, having played every track from their recently released album ‘Acoustic‘. He also played quite a few unreleased tracks straight from the Anjuna kitchen as he rightly called it exclusively just for his favorite Goan Crowd just a few kilometres away from the actual beach. The moment was surreal. The other tracks IDed were Sun & Moon,Alchemy,Sun In Your Eyes from their previous two albums.
As we’ve obeserved, Above and Beyond have time and again proved that EDM is not just about random beats and feet stomping. It’s also about rhythm, melody, a norm that has led to their worldwide success. This was evident when the last track they played was ‘On A Good Day‘ from their OceanLab project. If memory serves right, they played ‘On The Beach‘ also by Oceanlab as the last track last year!
The Spectrum stage witnessed India’s own Nawed Khan play out his popular remixes of classics which made for a real good workout. It was followed by Sick Individuals who transcended the genres business and played out tracks ranging from Apollo to This Is What It Feels Like to Sky Full Of Stars!
We also saw Alvaro return to India once again this year as well. Roger Sanchez ended proceedings with his banging House tunes.
Laboritoire was host to Icicle,Alex Perez and Calyx & Tebee with their Deep Bass and Hard sets.
We can’t wait for the fourth day which will see the trance legends Aly & Fila make a return to Goa.
Stay tuned to this section for more updates.
